We work closely with women to develop pregnancy care pathways that are; woman centred, evidenced based and focused on individual needs, expectations and aspirations. Care pathways are guided by the Australian College of Midwives guidelines and may include discussion, consultation or referral with our collaborating G.P Obstetrician or Obstetric Consultant to ensures best practice.
We are Eligible and Endorsed Midwives which means Medicare rebates apply for all antenatal and postnatal services. In some circumstances Yarra Valley Midwives offer bulk billing appointments for current health care card holders. Rebates are also available if you have Private Health insurance*.

What is a Private Midwife?
A Private Midwife, also known as an ‘Eligible Midwife’ is a registered midwife that has undertaken further midwifery studies to obtain a scheduled medicine endorsement by the NMBA with authorisation to access the MBS and PBS. A private midwife can provide professional care for pregnant women as their chosen Primary Carer throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period for up to 6 weeks after the baby’s birth. The private midwife has professional indemnity insurance which covers pregnancy and the postnatal period.
Yarra Valley Midwives is the culmination of the vision Robbie and I have to be able to provide ‘gold standard’maternity care for women in the Yarra Ranges and beyond. I believe that every woman should have a known primary carer and every woman should have all the resources and information available to her and her family when making decisions about her care, pregnancy, birth and her new family.
I have four beautiful babies of my own, Denali, Tyler, Indigo and Maiya. Parenthood itself is a journey of discovery, discovery of self, of family, changing roles and of course the new life entering your world. My greatest pleasure is to stand alongside women and their families during this time.
Living in the beautiful Yarra Ranges without any local employment for midwives, I travel over an hour to a large Maternity hospital where I work as a Clinical Midwife Specialist (CMS), a job I love. However, being able to provide Maternity services with one of my best friends and one of the most inspiring Midwives I know: Rob, in our beautiful town is a privilege and a joy. The shared vision and journey with our families is endlessly rewarding for me as a Midwife, Mother and as a Woman.
I have lived in the beautiful Yarra Valley for over 20 years, bringing up four amazing children, Gizzy, Oskar, Harley and Sienna. My personal pregnancy and birth experience was pivotal, inspiring a dream to become a midwife and for all women to feel empowered through genuine mutual respect, love and education.
I have been a midwife for over 6 years now, having worked in both a busy Tertiary Hospital and then for Casey Hospital as a Clinical Midwife Specialist (CMS). I have a special interest in VBAC’s (vaginal birth after caesarean section), running the VBAC antenatal clinic for over a year. De- briefing after a caesarean or traumatic birth is imperative to identify future birthing fears and to focus antenatal education for the woman to regain trust in her body and the whole birthing process.
Lisa is one of my closest friends whom I respect and admire; as a woman, a mother and midwife, encouraging my dream to become a reality, and together Yarra Valley Midwives was born. We believe Gold standard midwifery care provides evidenced based information for women to be fully informed and participate in creating their unique pregnancy and birth experience.
